Crystalline glazes are one of the highly-prized items in the porcelain world due to its rarity & technical feat.
These patterns is a result of high heat and zinc, a main ingredient of crystalline glazes. It is mixed with silica, that is found in all our glazes.
We call these crystal-like formation "zinc-silicate" crystals.
More often than not, these shimmery patterns are not within our control once the kiln door closes. Therefore every formation, every piece of crystalline glaze is different.
These 3D patterns that shift like hologram is produced when hot air is trapped in the glazed areas. Whenever the kiln opens, we are always awed by new surprises. We hope you will be too.
